Maybe start with a joke: The Coast Guard icebreaker Healy is set to leave its Seattle home port this week for a research mission in the Arctic Ocean.
It’s not yet known if the Healy will be available for another demanding mission: breaking the ice at the first Hillary Clinton-Bernie Sanders unity meeting.
The new math: Some restaurants are adopting a no-tipping policy, choosing instead to pay their staff higher wages and build that cost into menu prices, writes Ryan Davis of Everett Community College.
This is excellent news for folks who never quite got the hang of figuring percentages using the calculator on their smartphones — in other words, just about everybody.
Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1816, snow fell in New England, kicking off what would become known as the “Year Without a Summer.”
