50 years ago (1963)
Philip Zalesky, Everett Junior College instructor, would speak on “A National Park in the Northern Cascades” at the Everett Kiwanis Club meeting tomorrow in the Elks Home. Don Jones would be master of ceremonies. At the last meeting Ed Diamond spoke about the library addition and Dick Downie showed slides of Jetty Beach.
Ole’s Food Center at 63rd and Broadway had specials on coffee, meat, soups, potato chips, shrimp, frozen dinners, California tomatoes, pork steak and hygrade frankfurters for the next three days.
25 years ago (1988)
Bullies was celebrating its grand opening at 23rd and Broadway. Its specialties were gourmet hamburgers, scrumptious potato skins, fantastic soups and salads and great chicken and seafood. Patrons were invited to come as they were and enjoy great music from the past in a relaxing, fun atmosphere.
Elmer Waiter, resident of the Snohomish Chalet, enjoyed the banjo picking of Gregory bull at the Mid Summer Festival for Snohomish County residents of nursing homes and group homes. Geanne Brosseau, of the Northern Bedelli Dancers, got festivalgoers involved in the fun.
