West beats East at Earl Barden All-Star Classic

YAKIMA — The West defeated the East 20-14 in the 21st annual Earl Barden All-Star football classic on Saturday. The game, which was played at Earl Barden Stadium at East Valley High School in Yakima, features some of the best 2A, 1A, 2B and 1B players in the state.

Cascade Christian’s Robert Terhune scored two rushing touchdowns and La Center’s Max Hiller added a receiving touchdown for the West.

Dennis Merritt of Cascade-Leavenworth and Okanogan’s TJ Morris each scored for the East.

Terhune, who finished with 49 rushing yards on nine carries, was the offensive MVP for the West and Merritt, who had 10 rushes for 87 yards, was the offensive MVP for the East.

Several local players competed for the West including: Darrington’s Trent Green, South Whidbey’s Deven Damerau, Lakewood’s Alec Burbee, and Ryan Fransen and Laka Wilkins both of King’s High School.
