2024 Prologue is Honda’s first all-electric SUV

This midsizer has roomy seating for five and a maximum 296-mile range.

The 2024 Prologue is Honda’s first all-electric SUV. Attractive, well-equipped, and long-ranged, it’s a competent new entry in the ever-growing EV world.

Prologue is a midsize SUV whose large cabin provides roomy seating for up to five people. It’s based on the Chevrolet Blazer EV platform and offered in Honda’s three familiar trim levels: EX, Touring, and Elite.

EX and Touring are available with front-wheel or all-wheel drive, while Elite comes standard with AWD.

Prologue’s maximum range on a full charge is 296 miles, achieved by EX and Touring models with two-wheel drive. AWD takes a slice, reducing range to 281 miles. The Elite trim’s extra merchandise lowers the maximum range to 273 miles.

The Prologue has a tranquil ride, even during hardship. Some local roads I travel have pavement that looks like it’s been strafed, but Prologue readily absorbed all the bumps. And it never felt floaty on a smooth highway.

A slew of driver-assistance and safety features too numerous to mention by name were standard on my tester Prologue. Regenerative braking and one-pedal driving ability enhance the SUV’s functionality. Normal and Sport driving modes are included.

Interior design is aesthetically pleasing. It’s clean and neat, logically arranged, and practical in its stowage spaces. Larger items are accommodated by a 23.7 cubic-feet cargo area that expands to 54.5 cubic feet if rear seats are folded.

An 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen is mounted upright in the dash. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, both wireless, are standard. So is wireless charging.

In addition to standard AWD, the Elite model I drove also includes 21-inch wheels, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, surround-view camera system, and rear pedestrian detection.

Base pricing for the 2024 Honda Prologue, with the destination charge included, starts at $48,850 for a front-drive EX model and tops out at $59,350 for the Elite.

According to Honda, the 2024 Prologue qualifies for the U.S. $7,500 EV tax credit. Honda’s official statement reads: “The federal tax credit applies to the purchase of all 2024 Prologues built after Feb. 26, 2024. All 2024 Prologues will qualify when leased.”

Pricing for the 2025 Prologue had not been officially announced at the time of this writing, but there are no major changes to the SUV for 2025, and any price increase is expected to be slight.
