Must-sees for each day of Sasquatch

Getting ready to migrate east for the Sasquatch! Music Festival. Bags are packed and the car is all gassed up. Before heading out I wanted to highlight some of the shows happening at the festival this weekend that I consider must sees.

Sasquatch must sees

Friday

Pretty Lights on the Sasquatch stage at 10:15pm

Seeing electronic music in a live setting can feel weird sometimes. If the performer hasn’t put a ton of thought into their live set then it just doesn’t feel like there is a lot going on. That isn’t a problem for Pretty Lights.

A Pretty Lights performance is packed with highly infectious beats that will make everyone dance and towers that will flash and explode with light all night long while he moves the crowd of thousands from what can be best described as a command center. This show will be the visual spectacle of the whole weekend.

The Helio Sequence on the Bigfoot stage at 6:20pm

I have seen The Helio Sequence more times than I can count and as long as they play anywhere near me I wont miss a show. They never disappoint. Every time the live show is fantastic.

I always say that drummer Benjamin Weikel is the best I’ve ever seen. Every time I tell someone that (including now) I ask myself if he is really the most talented I have ever seen or just the most fun to watch. There is no doubt he is the most entertaining drummer I have seen live. It’s the faces he makes and enthusiasm you can see in his whole body when he performs. You just have to see it for yourself.

Sunday

Beirut on the Sasquatch stage at 8:10pm

Beirut singer Zach Condon must be seen live. This is more of an order than a suggestion. Beirut performed at Sasquatch two years ago. I lost track of time and didn’t know they were on stage already till off in the distance I heard this incredible voice and I took off running.

Condon’s voice sounds so perfect on the Beirut records that it almost seems impossible for it to sound as good live. But it does. Here’s the proof.

Monday

Tenacious D on the Sasquatch stage at 8:30pm

Monday was hard to pick just one must see. The day is loaded with Beck, Silversun Pickups, Damien Jurado and so many more. In the end I have to go with Tenacious D. Jack Black and Kyle Gass are more than just rock stars.

These guys are true, all around performers who bring the heat no matter what stage they are on. I’m ready to get my face melted and to laugh the whole time.
