Have I got some fairly unrelated REM and Modest Mouse news for you!
First up: Modest Mouse are supposedly working on a new EP, collecting tracks from their sessions for “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank” and “Good News for People Who Love Bad News.”
The group is also touring with REM — see how this all fits together at least a little? — although no dates of the dynamic due are scheduled for the Seattle area yet.
REM plan to tour behind a new album, “Accelerate,” scheduled for release April 1. That record is being touted as a rocking affair.
The group’s new song, “Supernatural Superserious,” lives up at least partially to that hype. It’s not as brutally guitar-centric as anything from “Monster,” but it still sounds like their liveliest song in a decade. Give it a listen:
