With the campy fright flick “Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead” scheduled for DVD release on Tuesday, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals offered up some advice on flicks that might turn people off of meat.

While its list serves up a lot of movies that revolve around cannibalism, not people eating steak dinners, it still seemed worth sharing. After all, many of the suggestions also double as good fright flicks for Halloween.

Poultrygeist (2007): Chickens return from the grave to seek revenge against their killers in this campy movie, which also includes a musical number about American Indian burial grounds.

Sweeney Todd (2007): While Johnny Depp is as delicious as ever, this dark musical centers on the star as he plays a murderous demon barber. He and his accomplice decide the best way to get rid of the bodies is to simply serve them in meat pies.

Soylent Green (1973): Overpopulation and environmental devastation lead to a world where the only way to survive is by eating a food called Soylent Green. But the real food for thought is when Charles Heston discovers that “Soylent Green is people!”

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974): Leatherface and friends know how to throw a dinner party: blood, gore and all the human flesh that you can eat.

Delicatessen (1991): This post-apocalyptic black comedy was co-directed by the guy behind “Amelie,” Jean-Pierre Jeunet. As if foie gras weren’t disgusting enough, the flick gives new meaning to the term French cuisine, as a landlord serves cannibalistic meals to tenants.

Babe (1995): There’s nothing particularly grotesque about this movie, but who can pig out after watching the cute star charm gruff Farmer Hogett? “That’ll do pig. That’ll do.” Adorable!
