Rotary Ranch Petting Zoo, a beloved attraction of Jennings Park since 1988, has closed, and will not return to the park, which is located at 6915 Armar Road in Marysville.
Marysville Parks and Recreation employees noted that a variety of reasons led to the closure; one being that the Marysville School District shut down its farm program, which ran the petting zoo as a co-op venture with the park. Another is the retirement of the person in charge of the school district’s program.
Park employees say they were glad the zoo provided so many memories for visitors in its 19 years, and said Jennings Park still offers many recreational outlets for visitors and families, such as its popular pond area.
The park staff says the zoo’s former space likely will be used for other purposes, citing teen programming as a strong possibility.
