50 years ago (1962)
Bill Ingram and Bennie Dupris were in the news. Ingram had been named a volunteer fund consultant for the 1963 American Red Cross campaign. Dupris was director of the YMCA Ski School at Mount Pilchuck for the winter season.
Sixth-grader Sally Lager and kindergartner Donnie Bechtold were preparing for the dedication of Seaview Heights Elementary in Edmonds on Thursday. Another ribbon cutting the same day would be at the Stanwood railway overpass for the new section of State Highway 1-Y east from Stanwood.
25 years ago (1987)
Aided by her brother, Eric, Vanessa Gabbard soared off a rope swing into a pile of leaves on Lombard Ave. The seven-year-old said she like to see how high she could get. Her brother added that they did this every fall until they had to clean up the leaves. Good leaf-pile-jumping was expect to continue, except for a slight chance of showers this weekend.
The Lake Stevens Instrumental Division of Hewlett-Packard earned the Community Service Award from Work Opportunities, Inc., a Lynnwood-based non-profit vocational rehabilitation facility serving county disabled persons. Manufacturing manager Rick Plante accepted the award from John Keledzie.
