Remember Nisqually?
Believe it or not, Feb. 28 will mark the 10th anniversary of the Nisqually earthquake of 2001. The 6.8-magnitude quake struck just before 11 a.m. on Ash Wednesday and caused one death, 407 injuries and considerable property damage in the Puget Sound area.
The Herald is looking for recollections of that day. Where were you?

Expect closures for the holiday: Presidents Day is Monday. Here are some scheduled closures:
Government: Federal, state and local offices will be closed.
Schools: Closed.
Garbage: Waste Management and Rubatino Refuse Removal picks up and recycles on the regular schedule.
Post offices: Closed, although express mail service continues.
Commerce: Many businesses will be closed, Everett and Alderwood malls will be open, most banks will be closed. State run liquor stores will be open.
Transportation: Community Transit has changed some commuter trips to Seattle, but otherwise will be on a regular schedule. Everett Transit will be on a holiday schedule. For ferry information, go to www. wsdot.wa.gov/ferries or call 888-808-7977.
The Herald: The delivery deadline is 7:30 a.m. Classified advertising and the front lobby will be closed. Customer service for home delivery will be open from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.
