Whidbey Island: Bridge lane closures
Drivers crossing the Deception Pass bridge this week should expect delays of 10 minutes while the bridge is inspected for safety.
One lane of the 180-foot-tall bridge crossing is expected to be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today through Thursday.
State Department of Transportation bridge engineers plan to extend a truck-mounted, steel arm and bucket over the railing and under the bridges to carry inspectors close to hard-to-reach parts of the bridge for thorough examination. The bridge is inspected every two years.
