Body found outside Silvana identified as Edmonds man

Sheriff’s detectives believe Daniel Shields was hit by a vehicle. They’re seeking more information.

SILVANA — Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives believe a man who was found dead Tuesday morning just outside Silvana was hit by a vehicle.

A person driving by reported seeing the body of Daniel C. Shields, 33, of Edmonds, around 8 a.m. on Tuesday. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office determined he died from blunt-force injuries.

Initially, the sheriff’s office reported no obvious signs of criminal activity. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward, whether it’s about the incident itself or if they’re aware of a vehicle with recent damage to its passenger-side headlight, grill or windshield. According to a news release, the vehicle also is likely missing a passenger side mirror. The sheriff’s office anonymous tip line can be reached at 425-388-3845.
