LAKE FOREST PARK — State transportation officials say Highway 522 at Lake Forest will remain closed for the evening commute as crews work to make utility repairs caused by a falling tree.
A large tree fell across the highway late Wednesday night, blocking all lanes and pulling down several utility poles and their electrical, cable TV and phone lines.
Seattle City Light spokesman Peter Clarke says power was knocked out for 7,500 customers in Lake Forest Park and Shoreline. Crews worked all day Thursday as the temperature climbed toward 90, clearing the tree and restoring service.
Highway 522 is a major Seattle commuter route around the north end of Lake Washington. DOT spokesman Bart Treece says it’s used by about 40,000 vehicles a day.
