PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Coast Guard says a fishing boat sank off the Oregon Coast early today.
Coast Guard Group Astoria duty officer Mark Dobney told The Oregonian that the 40-foot boat out of Hammond was 60 miles west of Cape Lookout when it started taking on water.
The Coast Guard sent helicopters and a motor lifeboat, but another fishing vessel was the first to spot the three-man crew aboard a raft. Dobney says all escaped injury.
