SEATTLE — After 36 years in Congress, former Rep. Norm Dicks isn’t done with Washington, D.C.
The Seattle Times reported that the long-serving Democrat from Bremerton has taken a job as senior policy counsel at Van Ness Feldman, a law firm and lobbying shop that specializes in energy and environmental issues.
The firm’s founders include former senior staffers of the late Sen. Henry “Scoop” Jackson, and Dicks says he’s had lots of experience with the company.
Dicks says he will carefully follow ethics rules that bar him from lobbying his former colleagues in the House of Representatives for one year. But he says he’s allowed to gather information, advise clients and lobby the executive branch even during that “cooling off” period.
Dicks announced his surprise retirement from Congress last year. He plans to split his time between the firm’s Washington, D.C., and Seattle offices.
