Family Day at the Edmonds Marina

The Port of Edmonds is hosting Family Day at the marina 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Classic yachts will be available for tours. At the port’s public plaza, 458 Admiral Way, there will be marine-related community booths and family activities. At the Freedom Boat Club’s table attendees can sign up for a free power boat ride. Staff from the Port of Edmonds plan to host a craft station where kids can practice the art of gyotaku —the traditional Japanese method of fish printing.

Get help identifying weeds with this invasive plant talk

Seth Luginbill, Island County’s noxious weed program coordinator, will share techniques for controlling invasive plant species and improving native habitats at 7 p.m. June 19 on Camano Island.

Bring pictures of your backyard or pasture weeds for identification or bring the weeds in a bag to prevent spreading seeds during transport. This program is to take place at the Island County Multi-Purpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive.

Eat pancakes in Sultan

The Sky Valley Senior Center Pancake Breakfast is 8 to 11 a.m. the first Saturday of each month. Enjoy pancakes, sausages, hash browns and more. The suggested donation is $5, or $3 for children under 5. The senior center is at 617 First St., Sultan, beind the Boys & Girls Club.

Sea, Trees & Pie Bike Ride with fourth annual event

The fourth annual Whidbey Camano Land Trust Sea, Trees and Pie Bike Ride will be held on July 21. There are three loops to choose from; 5, 10 and 20 miles. Arrival time and check-in is between 9:30 and 10 a.m. All routes start and end at the Coupeville ferry terminal at the State Park birding platform on Highway 20 across from Crockett Lake. Advance registration is required. A slice of pie from Whidbey Pies will be waiting at the finish line for all registered riders.

MEETINGS

Port of Everett commissioners have scheduled a meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday to discuss acquiring the former Kimberly-Clark mill property through condemnation. The port commission meets at 1205 Craftsman Way, suite 200, Everett. Separately, Kimberly-Clark and two maritime companies have announced a deal for a private sale of the same property.
