It’s summer reading program time
Some schools are done with classes, while students and teachers at others are counting down the days. Local libraries have summer reading programs ready to go, to help keep kids engaged in reading skills over the break.
Sno-Isle Libraries offers a “Build A Better World” theme this year at all 22 of its libraries across Snohomish and Island counties. Readers can earn a free book as part of the reading challenge. Families and teens can register at sno-isle.beanstack.org.
The libraries will have other summer events as well, including reptile visits, bridge building, electricity demonstrations, Minecraft tournaments and more.

MEETING
Mountlake Terrace City Hall update
The city of Mountlake Terrace is getting a little closer to a plan for a new City Hall. The advisory committee presented its research and findings to City Council on June 5. The committee recommends 19,210 square feet in a project costing up to $11.6 million. The council is expected to discuss the topic again starting June 15.
A decision must be made by mid-July on whether to seek a tax measure on the November ballot. The proposed location is near the police station and the library.
