Students at Lutheran High School in Orange, Calif., have started a national campaign to collect and distribute a million letters of appreciation and e-mails of thanks to those serving in the military.
National Military Appreciation Month is celebrated every May.
The students are not asking people to support any military cause, but to take time and write a thank-you letter to service members for their work and sacrifices. To handle the amount of mail they expect to receive, the school is organizing the students into opening, sorting and packaging teams. The mail will be distributed to military bases, veterans hospitals and military organizations.
To send an e-mail letter, go to www.amillionthanks.org.
The deadline is the end of the month.
