FYI

WASL scores should be in the hands of all families in the Everett School District by Sept. 29.

The district will start rolling out score reports from the Washington Assessment of Student Learning to students and their parents starting with middle school parent curriculum nights today. Other schools will mail reports or hand them out at similar parent functions.

The lineup:

Today: Eisenhower, Gateway, Heatherwood and North middle schools, at parent curriculum nights. North Middle School families will receive scores in the mail.

Week of Sept. 25: Everett, Cascade and Sequoia high schools, in the mail. Elementary schools, curriculum nights or in the mail.

Sept. 27: Henry M. Jackson High School, parent night.

The district originally planned to mail score reports with individualized student learning plans. But those plans are taking longer to complete than expected.

Parents should contact their child’s school if they have questions.

USS Momsen returns Friday

The guided missile destroyer USS Momsen will return to Everett on Friday following its inaugural deployment.

The Momsen, Naval Station Everett’s most recent addition, left Everett in early April, headed to the western Pacific to assist in anti-terrorism efforts. The commanding officer is Cmdr. Patrick Kelly.

The Momsen is scheduled to arrive at its home port at 10 a.m.

The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer conducted and supported missions intended to locate drug smugglers, and it provided protection for visiting U.S. forces in the area.

The ship’s sailors also joined with communities volunteering for various projects.
