Hansen talking to PUD about vacant GM position

The Snohomish County Public Utilities District has had positive discussions with Everett Mayor Ed Hansen over whether Hansen wants to be the new general manager.

Still many details need to be hashed out before Hansen would consider taking the job and leaving his post of eight years as mayor. Hansen was re-elected in November for another four years.

Last week, the PUD board fired general manager Paul Elias. Elias took voluntary leave almost two months ago after customers learned the utility had paid a consultant hundreds of thousands of dollars in expenses that many saw as extravagant.
