EVERETT – A Snohomish County Jail employee was arrested Thursday morning on allegations that he had abused his 13-year-old son.
The man, 38, who lives in Skagit County, was arrested by Skagit County sheriff’s deputies on suspicion of first-degree criminal mistreatment, unlawful imprisonment and second-degree assault.
The boy told deputies his father spanked him with a board, and investigators found bruises and cuts consistent with the child’s statement, said Chief Deputy Will Reichardt of the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office. The boy is now living with his biological mother.
Snohomish County’s corrections department will conduct an independent internal investigation to determine whether the man violated the county or department code of conduct, corrections spokesman Jim Harms said.
