OLYMPIA — Washington state lawmakers want people to surrender their weapons when they are placed under a restraining order.
The Housed approved a plan Tuesday evening that would prohibit people from possessing a firearm while a protective order is in place.
Democratic Rep. Roger Goodman of Kirkland said the bill will help keep victims of gun violence safe.
The measure passed 61-37 and now goes to the state Senate.
