ARLINGTON, Va. — The power is back on at Reagan National Airport outside Washington, D.C., after an hourlong outage that brought flights and security screening to a standstill.
Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokeswoman Courtney Mickalonis says the power went out about 12:30 p.m and came back on at 1:30 p.m. EST.
Flights were grounded during that period, but the Transportation Security Administration was able to quickly resume screening using a backup generator at two of four checkpoints.
Mickalonis said delays would likely persist throughout the afternoon.
She said the problem originated at an airport substation, but the cause was still under investigation.
