SPOKANE — A Spokane police spokeswoman says a woman who appeared to be suffering from a drug overdose was later found to have a gunshot wound in the lower abdomen.
Spokeswoman Monique Cotton says officers responded Tuesday morning to a north Spokane residence after a male caller said there was “something wrong” with a woman at the site and there might have been a gunshot fired.
Cotton says officers and medics found a woman vomiting and appearing to be suffering from a drug overdose. There was a “large amount of drug paraphernalia” at the home. It wasn’t until the woman reached a hospital that doctors found the gunshot wound.
The woman is hospitalized with what is described as a life-threatening injury.
Police and major crimes detectives are investigating.
