GEORGETOWN, Texas — Authorities are searching for possible victims after two mobile homes and a house in central Texas were swept away by floodwaters dumped by the remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine.
Williamson County sheriff’s Sgt. John Foster said today officials were trying to account for an unknown number of residents after the bloated San Gabriel River tore through a rural area north of Austin.
Foster said no deaths or injuries have been reported, but authorities are “preparing for the worst.”
The storm, which was downgraded to a depression Tuesday evening, dumped several inches of rain across central and north Texas overnight, snarling the morning commute in the Dallas area.
Flood warnings have been posted throughout both regions.
