The Arlington Christ the King Community Church Youth Group recently cleaned up over two dozen large trash bags’ worth of garbage at Twin Rivers Park.
“It was an eye-opening experience for our teens to see what happens down at the beach, and a perfect opportunity to inspire them to always help others,” said youth pastor Antonio Baiamonte.
During the summer, people flock to the beaches of the Stillaguamish River, leaving behind trash instead of packing out what they packed in. The beach accessed from Twin Rivers County Park is state Department of Natural Resources property, and it is illegal to leave garbage on the beach.
The city of Arlington is working with Snohomish County and DNR on the issue. Additional signs will be placed in the park encouraging people to “pack it in, pack it out.”
