Russian media reports, meanwhile, indicated that the Kremlin was growing tired of Iran’s nuclear defiance in the face of U.N. Security Council sanctions, with three news agencies citing an unidentified official warning Iran to cooperate and stop playing “anti-American games.” Iranian officials have rejected Russia’s claims, saying Tehran has fulfilled its obligations under the $1 billion contract.
South Korea and the United States said Monday they are on the verge of concluding an ambitious free trade agreement, but need a few more weeks to bridge gaps in areas such as automobiles and agriculture. A man stole $28 million worth of diamonds from an Antwerp bank where he had been a trusted customer for a year using a stolen Argentine passport, officials said Monday. Prosecutors say the suspect broke into safety deposit boxes in an ABM Amro bank in the city’s diamond quarter last week. He made off with diamonds weighing 120,000 carats, police said.
