Casino Road Kids Ministries’ highly anticipated annual Christmas party was an evening of joy and connection for Everett children and their families.
Made possible through a longstanding partnership with Carrie deKubber’s Bob’s Burgers & Brew Everett, the team has been instrumental in bringing the community together through generous support and volunteer efforts.
The celebration, hosted at Horizon Elementary School, featured a Christmas dinner, caroling and gift card making, before concluding with a message about the spirit of Christmas.
Thanks to the community’s contributions through Casino Road Kids Ministries’ Amazon wishlist, each of the 125 children in attendance received a gift, they could choose to unwrap at the event or save to open at Christmas.
“The goal is to provide these kids presents, but also hope,” says Tyrone McMorris, the ministries’ founder and executive director. “Some of these kids wouldn’t otherwise have a Christmas at all. We want them to feel loved and valued.”
The partnership with deKubber has spanned nearly a decade and includes monthly meal donations among other things. The Christmas event also provided kids with essential supplies like gift bags, mittens, hats and hygiene items for teenagers. “Carrie’s generosity is extraordinary,” McMorris says. “She doesn’t have to do this, but she consistently shows up for these kids.”

McMorris is most excited to witness the children’s reactions to card-making and the gifts. “The joy they display while creating something to give to others,” he shares. “And their gratitude when they open their presents is what I am most excited about.”
Casino Road Kids Ministries operates year-round, offering clubs that provide meals, homework help, Bible lessons, and enrichment activities to children and youth in the Mukilteo School District. This approach ensures kids receive tangible support but also mentorship and community connection. McMorris emphasizes that events like the Christmas party are critical to the ministry’s mission of fostering hope and resilience among Everett’s underserved youth.
The evening’s crafts encourage children to create gifts for loved ones, promoting the message of giving during the holiday season. “It’s about passing on the hope we give them,” McMorris explains. “We want these kids to know they’re cared for, and we encourage them to share that care with others.”
