Fjortoft’s 3-pointers boost Meadowdale

LYNNWOOD — Meadowdale relied on Hanna Fjortoft’s five 3-pointers and some clutch free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter to preserve a 68-61 Wesco South victory over Kamiak Tuesday night at Meadowdale.

“Kamiak caused a lot of turnovers, they made it competetive,” Meadowdale coach Dan Taylor said. “We got stops (at the end) and forced them to foul.”

Kamiak pulled within three points with 45 seconds remaining, but Eryn Jones went 3-for-4 from line in the fourth and Danica Coronacion went 4-for-4 to preserve the lead.

Jones finished with 33 points and four steals, Fjortoft chipped in 15 points, all from 3-point range, and senior guard Alli Streit had seven assists for the Mavericks.

Kelsey Patrick led Kamiak with 24 points and three 3-pointers.

“Patrick played with a lot of intensity for them,” Jones said, “(but) we got key buckets when we needed it.”
