Kwak runs away with 4A girls golf district title

MARYSVILLE — Kamiak’s Renee Kwak shot a 37 on the back nine to finish with a round of 77 on Day 2 of the 4A District 1 girls golf tournament at Cedarcrest Golf Course on Tuesday.

Kwak finished with a two-day total of 155 to win the tournament and lead a contingent of six Knights golfers to qualify for state. Kwak’s 155 was 16 strokes better than second-place finisher and teammate Hannah Lee (171). Kwak and Lee will be joined at state by teammates Katherine Choi (172), Simran Handa (177), Olivia Kim (180) and Shawnna Cabanday (184) as the Knights shoot for their first state championship since 2007.

Lake Stevens is sending three golfers to state in Mak Sundvor (172), Anna Lundquist (177) and Julia Elton (182).
