Prep Athletes of the Week 2/15-2/21

Isaiah Gotell

Cascade | Boys Basketball

Gotell scored 29 points in a loser-out game against Kamiak on Thursday and contributed 14 more in a win over Monroe on Saturday to lead the Bruins to the No. 2 seed in the 4A District 1 tournament and a state regional berth.

Amber Van Brunt

Monroe | Girls Basketball

Van Brunt scored 13 points in a loser-out game against Jackson and 17 in a win over top seed Lake Stevens on Saturday to help the Bearcats advance from the 4A District 1 tournament to the state regional round.

Michael Soler

Lake Stevens | Wrestling

Soler, a junior, won his third consecutive state championship with a 5-4 win over Pasco’s Timmy Martinez this past weekend at the annual Mat Classic. As a freshman Soler won at 106 pounds. He won at 113 as a sophomore and this year’s title was at 132 pounds. Soler helped the Vikings to a second place finish in the team standings.

Shelby Lee

Kamiak | Boys Swimming

Lee won the 4A state championship in the 200 Freestyle, finished third in the 100 Backstroke and helped the Knights to 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the 200 Freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay respectively this past Saturday at the 4A state meet. Lee set a school-record in the 100 freestyle while leading off the 400 freestyle relay, breaking the record set by Eben Schumann earlier during the meet.
