PREP BASEBALL/SOFTBALL/BOYS SOCCER ROUNDUP

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Home runs don’t always win baseball games. Mountlake Terrace provided another example of that Thursday night, recovering from three runs on two Marysville-Pilchuck homers to take a non-conference win 4-3 in eight innings.

“Once we got past the second inning for our guys, I think our pitching did a very good job,” Mountlake Terrace coach Andrew Watters said.

Marysville jumped on top with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning and added another solo shot in the top of the fifth to take a 3-2 lead. Terrace came back and tied it up in the bottom of the fifth.

Mountlake Terrace took the win in the bottom of the eighth inning on a fielder’s choice groundout by Andrew Woeck with one out and the bases loaded. The M-P shortstop fielded the ball and got the force out at second base, but was unable to complete the double play.
