PREP ROUNDUP: BOYS SOCCER/GIRLS GOLF

EDMONDS — Mountlake Terrace and Shorewood played to a 1-1 tie on Friday night. The Terrace coach exercised an option to not play overtime because it was a non-conference game.

Shorewood (1-0-1) scored first in the 18th minute when Essa Jallow (Safaa Al-Jelahawi assist) got a shot past Ben Winters. Mountlake Terrace (1-0-1) knotted things up in the 76th minute when Kiefer Higgins (Logan Gregg assist) beat Dorian Lair.

“That’s the reason the score wasn’t higher, because Ben is one of the better keepers in the league,” Shorewood coach Mark Wisdom said. “I would have to say Dorian is the best, but I am a little biased.”

Winters had seven saves in the game.

Shorewood made a defensive adjustment that made it difficult for Mountlake Terrace to penetrate.

“They had to go for the longballs to get through,” Wisdom said. “We have got a real solid defense.”

“It was pretty intense, a lot more physical than the first game, definitely fast pace and a lot of running,” Wisdom said of the game.

Shorecrest 2, Mariner 0: At Shoreline, Nick Terrel assisted on goals by Jonathan Cho and Glenn Paden as Shorecrest (2-0) took the non-conference victory over Mariner (0-2). Shorecrest goalkeeper Eric Baker recorded the shutout. Mariner’s goal keeper was not reported.

Glacier Peak 3, Meadowdale 1: At Lynnwood, Gregor Troost scored once and assisted on a goal by Shane Miller as Glacier Peak (1-1-0 overall) picked up the non-conference victory over Meadowdale (1-1-0). Meadowdale scored an own goal in the 24th minute. Daniel Kwon scored the lone goal for Meadowdale. Jimmy Eschrich started started in goal for Glacier Peak. Meadowdale’s goalkeeper was not reported.

Edmonds-Woodway 3, Kamiak 2: At Mukilteo, a Kamiak own goal helped Edmonds-Woodway (1-1-0 overall) edge Kamiak (0-2-0) for the non-league win. Jake Lagucik and Max Doolittle scored for the Warriors and Brian Bae and Spencer Kienholz scored for Kamiak. Goalkeepers were Austin Porter for Kamiak and Nick Kratzke for Edmonds-Woodway.

Sultan 0, O’Dea 0: At Sultan, Matthew Beckers of Sultan and Michael Grady of O’Dea each recorded shutouts in muddy, wet conditions as O’Dea (0-1-1) and Sultan (0-0-1) fought to a non-conference draw. Sultan head coach Mark Raney is the son of O’Dea head coach Patrick Raney.
