Chief search narrows
The search continues for a new Marysville fire chief. The district commissioners are aiming to narrow the list of candidates down to a few finalists by July 8. Final interviews are tentatively scheduled later this month. The district also remains in talks with the city about forming a regional fire authority, a new government body that would levy its own taxes for fire protection and emergency medical services.
Trail upgrades for Lynnwood: Two different trail improvements are coming to Lynnwood. The city has received a $5,000 grant from America’s Best Communities. The money will be used to develop a trailhead for the Interurban Trail at City Center, in the area of 196th Street SW and I-5. Secondly, new signs will be added to the Interurban with information about distances and average biking and walking times. The signs are part of a bigger project involving the Verdant Health Commission to add new bike trails and bike lanes and connect existing ones in south county. The work will start in 2016 for Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace and 2017 for Lynnwood.
New park meeting in Marysville: Marysville’s parks and recreation department is holding a community meeting to identify plans for the development of Mother Nature’s Window park. The park, located at 100th Street NE and 59th Drive NE, is being considered for passive development. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cascade Elementary School, 5200 100th St. NE.
