EVERETT — One of two brothers sought in connection with the presumed killings of an Arlington-area couple surrendered to authorities Monday.
Tony Clyde Reed, 49, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service and booked into the San Diego County jail, said Shari Ireton, a spokeswoman with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Reed had arranged to surrender to marshals, but no additional information was immediately available, Ireton said.
Along with his older brother, Reed is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the April disappearance of Patrick Shunn and his wife, Monique Patenaud, from their home near Oso.
The pair were former neighbors of John Blaine Reed, 53. Tony Reed is suspected in helping his brother kill the couple. The brothers allegedly fled to Mexico as detectives honed in on them in connection with the killings.
John Reed is still being sought. The bodies of Shunn, 45, and Patenaude, 46, have not been found despite repeated searches.
