50 years ago (1963)
E.A. Nord Company, already recognized as the largest stile and rail panel door manufacturer in the country, today announced plans for a five-year construction program on its waterfront plant. It would double the manufacturing capacity and add about 250 employees.
It was always a treat when you ate at the Turf Restaurant and Derby Room, 1712 Hewitt. Piano lounge entertainment was featured nightly with Ken Mundy and Donna Oleman. The “Beachcombers Luau” with Australian lobster tail and tenderloin steak, was $3.75.
25 years ago (1988)
Everett Transit was offering a Summer Wheels youth pass for only $10. Those 17 and younger could have unlimited rides through Sept. 5. Transit centers were at Hewitt and Hoyt, South Albertsons, Everett Mall, Fred Meyer, Everett Community College, City Hall, and the Transit Administrative Office on Cedar.
An article by Pam Witmer profiled the Ellis Post Card Company at 515 North Olympic in Arlington. Some of their more famous images included a young man riding a giant geoduck, a Dungeness crab surrounded by starfish, sand dollars and seashells, and the Blaine Peace Arch with flowers blooming in the foreground.
