In a few days we’ll know whether Snohomish County voter turnout for the primary election will exceed the expected 30 percent.
County elections officials had ballots from 17.44 percent of registered voters as of 9 a.m. Tuesday, but the ballots counted Monday night were only 14.47 percent. Left to be counted were ballots left through Monday in 24-hour drop boxes around the county and many ballots mailed over the weekend.
Primary votes in Lynnwood seemed to set up a general-election contest between incumbent City Councilman Loren Simmonds and challenger Shirley Sutton and another between incumbent Councilman Benjamin Goodwin and challenger Chris Frizzell.
A primary vote for Edmonds School Board apparently set up a November contest between incumbent Gary Noble and challenger Mary Murphy.
County elections officials will update results daily until final certification of results Aug. 18.
