Front Porch: Museum, library

Museum honored: The Imagine Children’s Museum has received accreditation from the nonprofit American Alliance of Museums.

Since 1969, only about 1,000 museums have received accreditation, a lengthy process that judges how well organizations achieve their missions and incorporate best practices in the museum field. This year, Everett’s Imagine Children’s Museum was one of six U.S. organizations to achieve accreditation for the first time.

Other museums that received accreditation in previous years include the Edmonds Historical Museum, the Museum of Northwest Art in La Conner, the Seattle Art Museum and the Museum of Flight.

Open house: A community open house is planned for April 26 at the Mountlake Terrace Library to hear from residents and business owners about potential updates to the city’s Town Center Plan. It’s been a decade since the plan was adopted. Consideration may be given to expanding the Town Center core, increasing height and density and additional incentives to encourage redevelopment. The open house is scheduled from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The library is at 23300 58th Ave. W. The plan can be viewed or purchased at the interim City Hall. The plan also is available online at www.cityofmlt.com/DocumentCenter/View/750.
