NEW YORK — A federal judge in New York City has issued a temporary order requiring Gawker Media to pull leaked pages of Sarah Palin’s forthcoming book from its website.
U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Griesa issued the injunction Saturday.
HarperCollins Publishers had sued Gawker after it published images on Nov. 17 from Palin’s “America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag” before its release next week.
In response, Palin tweeted, “Isn’t that illegal?”
Gawker said it was protected by fair use under copyright law. The company couldn’t immediately be reached Saturday but appeared to have removed the images from its site.
Palin’s publisher filed a legal complaint Friday asking that the site be banned from what it termed “further copyright infringement.”
A hearing on the judge’s order is scheduled for Nov. 30.
