SEATTLE — A new nonprofit promoting technology education in Washington made its first donation Monday of $2.4 million.
The money from Washington STEM goes to 15 teachers, schools and education nonprofits in the state. Officials from Microsoft, Boeing and the Gates Foundation announced the grants at a school in Federal Way.
Washington STEM aims to raise $100 million over the next 10 years to improve science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.
Grant winners include Washington MESA, Teach For America, Technology Access Foundation Academy and Bellevue School District, Mercer Middle School, Federal Way Public Schools, La Center Middle School, Burton Elementary School, White Swan High School, TechREACH, Northwest Learning and Achievement Group, Neah Bay High School and Markishtum Middle School, Chimacum School District, and Finley Elementary School.
