There are two shifts for volunteers to sign up for — a morning and afternoon. The first shift is from 8 a.m. to noon and the second from 1 p.m. to 5pm. Lunch for all volunteers will be served during the noon hour.
Tasks to be completed throughout the day include: install playground equipment, put in a buffer zone and trail area, build a tool shed and community garden, install a trash enclosure, design and paint sidewalk markings and games for the children, and more.
Woods Creek Village is located at 320 E. Fremont St, Monroe. It currently has six homeless units for families transitioning out of homelessness and two affordable rent units for low-income families. Six more affordable units are being added in the expansion.

Snohomish: Discuss Broadway Avenue plan
Snohomish County Public Works has scheduled an open house Tuesday evening to discuss plans for a new shoulder along a nearly 3-mile stretch of Broadway Avenue.
The 8-foot-wide paved shoulder would sit on the west side of the road, between Yew Way and 164th Street SE. Planners hope the shoulder will give pedestrians and cyclists and easier commute without competing for space with vehicle traffic.
The meeting is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cathcart Elementary, 8201 188th St. SE, Snohomish.
