Snohomish County land-use planners will have a series of workshops this month to talk about policies and strategies that will be needed to handle the next wave of population growth.
Topics include built-from-scratch towns called fully contained communities, economic development, transportation, surface water management and urban design standards.
The meetings are part of the effort to update the county’s comprehensive plan, the document that will guide growth through 2025. Rewriting the plan is expected to wrap up next year.
The upcoming meetings all will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will include representatives from the county’s planning commission and officials from Snohomish County cities and tribes.
The next workshop is tonight at the Snohomish School District’s Resource and Service Center, 1601 Ave. D, Snohomish. Participants include representatives from the county, Gold Bar, Lake Stevens, Monroe, Snohomish and Sultan.
Another workshop is scheduled Tuesday at North Creek Presbyterian Church, 621 164th St. SE, Mill Creek. Participants include representatives from the county, Bothell, Brier, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace and Woodinville.
The final workshop is Nov. 18 at Cedarcrest Middle School, 6400 88th St. NE, Marysville. Participants include representatives from the county, Arlington, Darrington, Granite Falls, Marysville, Stanwood and the Stillaguamish, Tulalip and Sauk-Suiattle tribes.
