STANWOOD — The city of Stanwood has joined a host of other Snohomish County communities that contract for fire protection service.
City Council members on Thursday night voted to authorize the mayor to sign an interlocal agreement with the North County Regional Fire Authority. The contract includes firefighting and emergency medical services.
With the contract, the fire authority now serves more than 22,000 people over 109 square miles, including the Warm Beach, Freeborn and Bryant areas.
The agreement goes into effect April 1 and runs through 2031.
