LAKE STEVENS — A 22-year-old man hit someone over the head with a metal baseball bat and while running away, broke into a nearby Lake Stevens apartment, police said Thursday.
On July 30, the suspect approached another man in a gravel parking lot around 12:45 a.m. The lot was behind the Buzz Inn on Main Street.
The suspect started a conversation, and then struck the man in the head, said Lake Stevens police Cmdr. Jeffrey Beazizo. The assailant started running away and a bystander tackled him. The suspect got up and ran into a nearby apartment.
The tenant inside saw the suspect climb onto a desk, jump out a window, leap over balcony and land in a tree outside.
Officers used evidence left behind to track him down. He was arrested Monday for investigation of first-degree assault and burglary.
