AquaSox fall to Emeralds on walk-off home run

Everett can’t hold an early five-run lead and loses to Eugene 6-5.

EUGENE — Aeverson Arteaga hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Eugene Emeralds beat the Everett AquaSox 6-5 Tuesday in the first of a six-game series at PK Park.

Alberto Rodriguez and Tyler Locklear homered in the second inning as the AquaSox jumped out to a 5-0 lead.

The Emeralds responded with three runs in the bottom of the third and two in the fourth to even the game at 5-5, where it stayed until Arteaga’s game-winning blast.

Locklear finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, Rodriguez had three RBI and Harry Ford went 1-for-2 with three walks for Everett (18-21).

Dues went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Arteaga finished with two RBI for Eugene (22-17).
