PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Marysville-Pilchuck edges Mount Vernon 5-3 in eight innings

MT. VERNON — The Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to earn a 5-3 victory over Mount Vernon in their non-league season opener Tuesday night.

Kyle Pace had a double and a home run for the Tomahawks.

Redmond 1, Monroe 0 (8 innings): At Redmond, Redmond’s Patrick McGrath scored the winning run on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the eighth inning of the non-league game. Kyle Hopkins pitched 62/3 innings of no-hit baseball for Monroe before giving up a single in the seventh.

Ferndale 9, Snohomish 4: At Ferndale, Brandon Maarhuis hit a grand slam in the sixth inning of the non-league game for Ferndale. For Snohomish, Colter Henry batted 2-for-3 with an RBI, Eric Koenig batted 2-for-4, Jake Taubenheim batted 3-for-3 and Garrett Dmochowsky had an RBI.
