PREP ROUNDUP

LYNNWOOD — Meadowdale’s Chase Anselment is a player that can do it all for a team, literally.

Anselment caught the first six innings, got the save pitching the seventh and batted 2-for-3 with a double and RBI as Meadowdale defeated Lake Stevens 7-2 in a non-conference game.

“We ask him to do a lot,” Meadowdale head coach Bill Hummel said. “This is what we ask of him. He was his regular Chase at the plate today … He is lights out as a closer, struck out two in the final inning.”

Meadowdale got a strong performance from starter Tyler McCabe in his first varsity start. McCabe struck out seven batters and allowed no earned runs.

Nathan Ball also performed well in his first varsity game, going 1-for-2. His defensive ability shined on a crucial double-play in the top of the sixth with runners on first and third that halted Lake Stevens in its tracks.

“It was just a bang-bang double-play. It ended whatever momentum they had,” Hummel said.

Meadowdale’s Brent Solomon pitched a solid middle relief, going two innings with one strikeout, and helped himself with an RBI single in the sixth
