PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia – Coming off their best game of the season so far, the Everett Silvertips played what was probably their worst.

The Silvertips put up little resistance in their 4-1 loss to the Prince George Cougars on Friday night in a Western Hockey League game.

Everett (5-3-2-1), which hadn’t played since dominating Seattle 3-0 last Saturday, never got up to speed against the team that came into the game in last place in the B.C. Division. The Silvertips were outshot 34-14 and managed just Barry Horman’s second-period goal. The Silvertips saw their five-game unbeaten string snapped.

Colin Patterson had two goals and an assist, Nicholas Drazenovic had a goal and two assists and Dustin Byfuglien also scored for Prince George (3-7-1-1), which won for the first time in seven outings.

The Cougars took the lead 6 minutes, 52 seconds into the game. Drazenovic eluded the Everett defense and backhanded a pass in front for Patterson, who was able to tip it into an open net to make it 1-0 with his first goal of the season.

Things got worse for the Silvertips in the second period. The Cougars took a 2-0 lead at 6:48 when Prince George goalie Justin Pogge’s save led to a two-on-one the other direction with Patterson finishing it off.

Everett pulled back within one with Horman’s power-play goal at 9:28. It was his second goal of the season.

But Prince George struck again at 16:59, Byfuglien scoring his second of the season with a bullet into the top shelf from the point to make it 3-1.

The Cougars’ power play goal 2:43 into the third period killed any chances Everett had of getting back in the game.

Michael Wall made 30 saves in goal for Everett.

Everett played once again without captain Mitch Love, who missed his fifth straight game with a chest injury.
